2016: The Golden Age of Scholarships

Jennifer M. and Eamon F., grade 7

imageAs we wrap up the middle of the 2015-2016 school year, our eighth graders are narrowing their high school choices if they haven’t already chosen one. It is a hard decision since many students have been offered scholarships to more than one school.

A majority of the students who earned scholarships are attending Bishop McDevitt High School. This list includes the following scholars: Mattie H., Marie M., Tommy K., Eric W., Aisling M., Matt M., and Mickey M. One of our two Neumann Scholarship winners, Siobhan L., is also in the lineup for McDevitt along with the rest. It definitely looks like these students, as well as McDevitt itself, have bright futures ahead of them.

Some of the gentlemen at StJP will be going to an all-male school. The two schools that have awarded students scholarships are LaSalle College High School and Roman Catholic High School. The three that are going to be attending LaSalle are Jake C., Ben M., and Connor D. Receiving scholarships from Roman Catholic are Jack D., Lloyd A., and our second Neumann Scholarship winner, Ethan L.

While these boys will be going to Roman Catholic and LaSalle, some of the girls have also earned scholarships at St. Basil Academy and Mount Saint Joseph Academy. StJP has four girls attending St. Basil with scholarships: Mary Theresa O., Kayleigh N., Mary Grace G., and Mary K. Attending the Mount is scholarship winner Molly M.

Mary Theresa O. told us, “I’m excited to meet new people and take more accelerated classes.”

These students have worked hard, and the main reason why StJP has so many scholarship winners is because of their elementary school education. St. Joseph the Protector’s faculty and staff have done a wonderful job with these students. Congratulations to these students who should be proud of their amazing effort and work!
